Homeschooling with
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)
aka Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)
aka Auditory Comprehension Deficit

Hearing doesn't just involve the ears... a person's brain also has to
process and make sense of what the ears hear.  When children are
diagnosed with an auditory precessing disorder, it means there is a
problem with the information not being properly processed by the brain,
even though their actual hearing may test as normal.

Children with APD have trouble comprehending the information they
hear.  They have a hard time following verbal instructions.  They find it
very hard to focus on a lecturer's voice in a noisy room.  They may not
be able to tell the difference between letters that sound similar.  Having
APD affects a child's language development, ability to communicate, and
ability to learn.  APD can only be diagnosed thru a series of auditory
tests administered by a specially trained Audiologist.
